Toshiba hasn’t had much to say about its forthcoming Android-powered tablet so far, other than the truth that it is hard working on one right now. But this week the first purported images of the upcoming tablet emerge on the internet, and now Notebook Italia says it’s got has details about its hardware specifications.
So here’s the skinny. If only the information is true, the upcoming tablet will be known as the Toshiba Folio 100. It will feature a 10.1-inch multitouch display with 1024 x 600 pixel of resolution, an NVIDIA Tegra 2 proccesor, and Google Android 2.2 operating system.
The tablet will reportedly come with a 16GB of internal storage space, support for SD (up to 32GB), MMC, HDMI port, USB 2.0 standard port, USB 2.0 mini port, jack audio,WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3G, a Webcam 1,3MP and a standard battery which offers up to 7 hours of life.
Just like the Toshiba AC100 Android netbook, the Folio 100 tablet will also come with the Opera Mobile web browser with Adobe Flash support, and some custom software like a PDF reader, eBook app, as well as RSS news reader. There will also be a Toshiba Market app for downloading some 3rd applications.
It is not clear if it will feature Android Market access, but the tablet does appear to feature 3G capabilities, so it is possible to run Google’s app suite including the Android Market.
The Folio 100 will likely measure 11.1″ x 7.1″ x 0.6″ and weigh around 1.7 pounds. There’s also an optional docking station for the tablet.
