RIM Previews BlackBerry 6

RIM BlackBerry 6 Operating System

RIM (Research in Motion) has just unleashed a new sneak peek of BlackBerry 6, the upcoming version of the BlackBerry mobile OS which was made official a few months ago. The company highlighted some of new and improved features in that video, which mostly nothing we haven’t noticed before.

Showcased in the fresh sneak peek are new WebKit browser, the Social Feeds app, universal search, re-skinned media interface, support for pinch and zoom, and many other features. The upcoming version of BB OS is also integrating some social networks like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and BlackBerry Messenger updates with the inbox, makes you easy to publish to one or more of them simultaneously.

In addition, the next version of the BlackBerry mobile OS also features new graphics, animations, and fluid graphical transitions with pop-up context menus. In fact, the homescreen will allow for some views based on content type. Everything looks smooth, despite the experience on a real device could be a tad different.

Oddly, most of the improvements seem to focus around a touch interface, so does that mean a new line of touch-screen devices are in RIM’s future? The new BlackBerry 6 OS is planned to be out some time in Q3 2010 and some older BlackBerry devices will be able to get upgrade. Still there is no details on the supported devices has been revealed yet.

Check out some of highlights in RIM’s video below after jump.
