Nexus One gets Android 2.2 Froyo

The Android 2.2 release has been a bit longer than predicted, but today the Android 2.2 Froyo software update from Google was finally begin. And Google’s flagship device, the Nexus One is the first to take benefit of Android 2.2.

Google revealed the release of the new Android 2.2 codename “FroYo” about a month ago at its I/O conference in San Francisco, while it planned that the update will be unleashed within a couple weeks, and today the new Android 2.2 OS for Nexus One is being delivered to users. So, if you’ have a Nexus One, you can wait to get the new Android 2.2 installed to your device via over-the-air update sometime later today.

A number of new features, improvements and upgrades are included with the new android platform, Boasting not only excellent speed upgrades, but also new functionality like Wi-Fi hotspot and tethering, Adobe Flash 10.1, cloud-to-device integrations and much more.

If you’re a HTC Evo user nor Droid Incredible user, you’re likely out of luck today as you will have to wait a bit longer to take advantage of the new Android 2.2 FroYo. Other devices like HTC Evo or Droid Incredible should also get the update in the near future, so please stay tuned to know more details.
