If you’re very happy with the Linux Mint 9 KDE RC (Release Candidate) that was rolled out about two month back, then I have a couple good news for you.
The first news is that the final and stable version of Linux Mint 9 KDE is coming soon. The Linux Mint team announced that the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Linux Mint 9 KDE have been uploaded for testing.
Boo, the Linux Mint team wrote on the Linux Mint Blog :
“All the updated packages are in the mint repositories, so if you are using the RC version and have been updating packages you have the final build already.”
And another good news is that Linux Mint 9 Xfce RC has been unleashed. The Xfce version is not 100% ready but the team has unleashed a Linux Mint 9 Xfce RC (Release Candidate). Besides the new features added to this Linux 9 flavours, Linux Mint 9 Xfce RC offers some tweaks for Thunar, its default file manager, and updated packages specific to its desktop environment.
Lefebvre wrote :
“The team is proud to announce the release of Linux Mint 9 Xfce RC. As an RC (Release Candidate) this release is targeted at developers and beta-testers who want to help Linux Mint find and correct bugs before the stable release. Please do not use this release as your main desktop,”
If you’d like to give it a try, you can download Linux Mint 9 Xfce RC in both 32 & 64-bit versions as a liveCD from links below.
