Mountain View-based search engine giant Google has just revealed that Google Sky Map Android app has been updated. In case you have not yet know what is Google Sky Map, Google Sky Map is Android app that turns your smartphone into a dynamic window on the night sky. You can use it to see a map of constellations, planets, brightest stars and more in that part of the sky.
The new Sky Map update offer a rather exciting new feature that lets users to see how the sky looked in the past as well as see how the sky will look in the future. In other words, user can see how the sky looked like 20 years or more ago or you can see how the sky will look like 3 days from now with the latest version of Sky Map.
Google’s Hector Ouilhet said:
“Have you ever wondered how the sky was back in 1900? How the sky looked when the Apollo 11 moon landing happened? Or what the sky will look like next Thursday night for your planned star-gazing trip? Today, the new version of Google Sky Map lets you time travel to see the sky at a specific date, past or future. After smooth travel to the desired year, you can fast forward or rewind in various speeds and watch how the sky changes.”
Well, if you would like to give it a try, you can download Google Sky Map via the Android Market or scan he QR code below. Google Sky Map works only with Android 1.6 or higher.
